What the Panel Is

  • **Please note this test is not available on the Home Blood Collection service
  • This screen tests for antibodies associated with Celiac Disease, an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten. Following NICE guidance, it measures Tissue Transglutaminase (TTG) IgA antibodies if tTG-IgA is low. This is the recommended first-line blood test for suspected Celiac Disease.

    Tests Included

    • Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Antibody
    • Total IgA (Immunoglobulin A) will automatically be added if tTG-IgA is low

    Important Pre-Test Information

Gluten Consumption: It is essential to be consuming gluten daily (e.g., at least one meal containing wheat, barley, or rye) for at least 6 weeks prior to the blood test. Testing while on a gluten-free diet will lead to a falsely negative or inconclusive result.
