What the Panel Is

This screen tests for antibodies associated with Coeliac Disease, an autoimmune condition triggered by gluten. Following NICE guidance, it measures Tissue Transglutaminase (TTG) IgA antibodies if tTG-IgA is low. This is the recommended first-line blood test for suspected Coeliac Disease.

**Please note this test is not available on the Home Blood Collection service

Tests Included

  • Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Antibody
  • Total IgA (Immunoglobulin A) will automatically be added if tTG-IgA is low

Important Pre-Test Information

Gluten Consumption: It is essential to be consuming gluten daily (e.g., at least one meal containing wheat, barley, or rye) for at least 6 weeks prior to the blood test. Testing while on a gluten-free diet will lead to a falsely negative or inconclusive result.
