What the Panel Is

This screen measures Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) levels in the blood. The PSA test is primarily used in the UK for diagnosing and monitoring prostate cancer, but levels can also be raised by non-cancerous conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostatitis.

Tests Included

  • Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) - Total

Important Pre-Test Information

  • Activity Restriction: Do NOT ejaculate, have sexual intercourse, or perform vigorous exercise (like cycling) for **48 hours** before the blood test. These activities can temporarily elevate PSA levels.
  • DRE/Biopsy: The sample should ideally be collected at least 1 week after a Digital Rectal Examination (DRE) and at least 6 weeks after a prostate biopsy.
